Title: Five Times Michael Wanted To Tell Lincoln He Loved Him But Didn't
Characters: Michael Scofield, Lincoln Burrows
Prompt: 44. Mask
Brief summary: Just at the title says, five times Michael didn't say what he wanted to say, five instances, from childhood, through prison, to a post-escape life. I love this fic because it is full of the crisp painfulness that I consider rather symptomatic for this pairing.
When Abruzzi closes the garden shears around his pinky toe, Michael curses his brother for always needing to be his hero.
Later when Lincoln asks to look at the damaged appendages, Michael's fist balls up uselessly at his side. There is pain in Michael's foot and pain in Lincoln's eyes and this is one fight that Lincoln could not win for him.
Michael knows it could all be smoothed away, made better, bandaged and healed with a comforting touch and a few soft words.
He lets it fester between them.
